Health update

The infection of Japanese Encephalitis that caused Air’s disability often presents with a condition known as dystonia. Typically for Air the dystonia showed up when she was making an effort to complete a task like reaching for a toy, her brain says reach, but her body would often twist into a different ineffective posture. These episodes were short and manageable. Sadly, at the end of December Air began experiencing painful periods of being “stuck”. She was no longer able to roll about in the floor as she once enjoyed and most often needed to be held in a sitting position almost folding her in half to avoid the posture occurring. During some of these events she would bite her bottom lip and needed help to physically open her mouth. We made multiple, sometimes weekly, visits to the government clinics in hopes of finding her relief. Multiple medication adjustments were made with little relief and often frightening side effects including labored breathing. Blood work and xrays have been taken to rule out underlying causes. Treatment for a sinus infection was completed as were dental cleanings yet she continues to struggle. At the writing of this post she has a significant wound on the inside of her lower lip, she retraumatizes the area daily and the added stress and pain exacerbate her dystonic posturing. Yupin needs to be within arm’s reach during all waking hours carrying her to complete tasks (medication prep, meals) around the home and to meet her own basic needs. They are exhausted and due for relief. A PayPal account https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8Iz7aenddB has been created to collect funds towards care not covered by her government disability insurance, donations can also be made through local bank transfers KrungThai Prompt Pay 0827580189. Prayers for their continued strength and comfort are always so very welcome. Thank you
