LOVED and LOVING

First an “oops” for letting almost a year go without an update to this site. A year filled with so many pouring LOVE in to the family and the LOVE being shared with others. While there continue to be challenges with Air’s movement disorder, she is strong and so very loved.

MAY brought regular visits to her neurologists and a pain management clinic, it also brought HOPE. Due to the outpouring of love and financial support towards medical care Yupin was able to advocate for botox injections which is recognized as a first line treatment for dystonia among many movement disorder specialists.

JUNE brought intervention. Air was able to receive sedated botox injections by a skilled practitioner at a private hospital. So many joined in praying and comfort was obtained.

JULY brought increased activities and lots of smiles. Air participated in an AAC camp with her friends and visiting University students. She also began receiving outpatient Occcupational Therapy in the evenings. Her medical team was all pleased to see how well she responded to the botox and delighted with us in her smiles.

In AUGUST Yupin and Air packed their bags for the Joni & Friends Family Retreat. The blessings of retreat, the love and connection made with buddies, the encouragement for Yupin to have been invited to share in the parent talk…all of it beyond words or images. Joni & Friends has been a support to the family in so many ways.

SEPTEMBER, Happy Birthday Air. Happy times were had with friends through the Dulabhatorn Foundation with events made all the more special with support from the ‘Stronger Together’ team to physically aid and encourage children along with our dear friends the Esh Family.

OCTOBER brought the completion of a large order of Yupin’s handicrafts for Joni & Friends with a special visit and hand delivery to the team that have cheered for Yupin and her girls from their first encounter.

OCTOBER also brought… PRAEWA hooray. Lots of love shared and memories made during her school break included visits with both grandmothers. LOVE

NOVEMBER while bringing the return of some painful posturing it was accompanied with some peace in knowing Air’s quality of life was recognized and valued by those involved in her medical care.

DECEMBER brought time to celebrate and share with friends both here in Chiang Mai. Thanks to generous donations for the children in the AAC story group, Air was able to serve as designated shopper helping to pick out items for her friends. The month also brought repeated botox injections under the care of a new physician as the original doctor moved. Some anxious times but she now has her primary neurologist advocating alongside the family. …and Air got to ride on an airplane and celebrate Christmas in Bangkok. Yupin was able to meet with a family group she’d like to replicate here in Chiang Mai and Air had consults with two experts in both Deep Brain Stimulation and Child Development.

JANUARY … more to come

FEBRUARY … more to come

MARCH, here we are, this Friday Air will have her highest number of non-sedated botox injections with a ‘new to her’ neurologist at the University hospital where she receives the majority of her care. The doctor is the hospitals “go to” practitioner for dystonia patients needing botox and while Air was the youngest in the clinic by some 50 years on the day of consult we take comfort that he was both kind and thorough in his assessment and agreeing to treat. This will allow for greater continuity of care. Prayers are appreciated. She is so loved.
